Wagon

O has a wagon.  I got it from the church yard sale last year and it was one of the best purchases I could've made.  Last summer he loved going for rides in them.  He does this summer as well, but he's found a much more fun use for it right now....pushing it himself.

I just about died laughing at him yesterday.  He starts off down by the house and starts to push it up the driveway towards the church.  Well, the wagon just won't go straight and he finds each time he tries to push it, he just goes in circles.  Every time he does a full circle he lets out this angry grunt/whine, but NO WAY does he want help.

I'm trying to let him work things out himself so he can problem solve.  He's doing a great job at it.  So, each time he goes in a circle and whines I ask him if he would like some help, to which he either says "NO!" or is silent.  So, I just sit back (and laugh) as he once again tries to get it to go straight, but around in a circle he goes.

After the 20th time he FINALLY figures it out and away he goes, zig zagging up the driveway.  He gets about half way up the drive way and wouldn't you know it, the blasted wagon starts circling again, haha.  He tries a few more times and goes off again up the driveway.  This time he makes it to the portable and tries to turn....he does a couple more circles and then BANG, he hits the portable stairs.

He tries and tries to push and lets out this almost crying whine.  I ask, "O, would you like mommy to help you?"  Finally, out of sheer desperation he signs & says "pease" (please).  So I walk over and we both push the wagon up the hill to the church doors.  Once there he tries a few more times on his own to push the wagon back down the hill towards the house and once again...circles...grunts of frustration, lol.

Finally, I said, "Maybe we should take a break from pushing the wagon".  Into the wagon he sat and off we went on another wagon ride ;)

  1. Medea does the same thing. I am getting her a kids sized toy wagon (off a mom on FB) hopefully it'll be easier to manage.
